annieagar

Whether you are a gym newbie or returning expert, this weeks blog will outline the structure to succeeding ultimate gym gains. Get ready for the dreaded next day soreness and prepare yourselves for hard graft, but dont worry I'll help you through it!

Key steps to follow when starting to work out:

  • Keep it simple!

  • Enjoyment

  • Weight load

  • Tracking numbers

  • Form!!!

The first two bullet points are quite self explanatory however I think a lot of people become misguided as to the reasonings behind their working out. Before starting out, sit down with yourself and get a clear idea of what your goals are within the gym. By doing this it will set out a clear roadmap for when you go back and means no distractions. For example, if you are wanting to improve your fitness levels you know you need to do more cardiovascular training. However, if you need more guidance in setting out a workout plan don't hesitate to get in touch with me!

Weight load. We all know how destroying it is to be lifting heavy, then after a couple weeks off you cant even lift your warm up weights. Try not to go in all guns blazing, remember the snail won the race. Ultimately, weight load should be second on your mind to form. Form is the ultimate necessity when working out and even better, if you get it nailed in the beginning you are set for life. So, before looking at what your numbers used to be look at if you are doing the movement correct in the first place.

Tracking goes hand in hand with both weight load and form. To continually track progress you need to be looking at if the weight load of your lifts is slowly going up. If the answer is yes, you are on track to reaching those goals! Dont overcomplicate things though, tracking numbers can be done simply on the notes page in your phone. Dont worry if you dont have a notebook carried round 24/7 in the gym with you, it can still be done.

Now you know where to start you just need to put it all into practice and keep consistent!

Annie
